Currents Dance Theatre is hiring two motivated, creative multi-taskers for our Arts Administrative Internship. Both internships are for the Summer Semester with the opportunity to extend through the Spring of 2026. Applications are taken on a first come, first serve basis. Arts Administrative Intership

The Currents Dance Theatre Arts Administration Internship is available to college and graduate students seeking experience in arts administration, social media marketing, fundraising, day-to-day nonprofit operations, and outreach. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to enhance your skills and knowledge of arts administration while working closely with the Artistic Director and Operations Manager. 

The Arts Administration Intern is a creative, highly motivated, multi-tasker who seeks to learn about nonprofit dance companies and diverse administrative skills within the arts field. Candidates must demonstrate an ability to maintain confidentiality and have strong, professional verbal and written communication skills.

Administrative

  • Assist with scheduling, logistics, and various management duties as needed.

  • Assist with artistic initiatives for programming

  • Take ownership over special projects that support activities of the company

  • Support with research projects and database building

Marketing

  • Update website with current events and information.

  • Basic SEO in Squarespace.

  • Creation of email newsletter.

  • Design materials to support fundraising efforts (flyers, posters, brochures, etc).

  • Create content for Instagram and Facebook accounts (reels, graphics, posts, captions, and stories).

Operations

  • Assist in the creation of fundraising campaigns and execution.

  • Relationship building with past and potential donors.

  • Research potential grants and assist in grant writing.

  • Take part in the creation and execution of annual fundraising events.

Job Responsibilities

Desirable Skills:

  • Interest in the performing arts, arts education, and social action

  • Basic knowledge of social media platforms, G suite, Canva, and video editing software of your choice. (for marketing focus)

  • Excellent writing, copy-editing, and communication

  • Background in the arts, arts administration, business administration, education and / or marketing

Commitment:

  • Available **** for rehearsals in Grand Rapids, as well as occasional weekend performance and workshop events.

  • Use of personal cell phone and computer.

Additional Notes:

  • This internship is unpaid, but can be used for school credit.

  • Interns are invited to take weekly class with the company during rehearsal hours and continue through the rehearsal period working on duties and taking content.

  • Start date July 7 with option of one semester (end date mid December) or full year (end date mid May).
